Directory listing terms

Listing is free and optional

A directory listing costs nothing and is not required to use Shindig. We take no commission on work that comes through the directory, and placement cannot be bought — there is no paid ranking, promoted slot, or sponsored position.

Your content is yours

You keep all rights to the text, photographs, and marks you put on your profile. By publishing a listing you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on the directory, in search results and link previews for your profile, and nowhere else. The licence ends when your listing comes down, except for copies already cached by third parties such as search engines, which are outside our control.

You confirm that you own or are licensed to use everything you upload — in particular that you have the right to publish the photographs, and permission from anyone identifiable in them.

Accuracy

Your listing must describe your business accurately: the name you trade under, the areas you genuinely serve, and prices you would actually honour. Prices are optional — leave them off rather than publish a figure you do not mean. Keep the listing current; an out-of-date profile is a bad experience for the person who contacts you because of it.

Inquiries go directly to you

The form on your profile is your own inquiry form. Submissions go into your workspace and nowhere else. We do not sell inquiry data, resell a request to competing caterers, or contact the people who submit it on our own behalf. Once an inquiry reaches you, you are the data controller for it and responsible for handling it lawfully, including any request to delete it.

Review, and taking a listing down

Every listing is reviewed by a person before it goes live, and we may decline one. You can unlist your own profile at any time from Settings → Public profile, and it comes down immediately.

We may remove a listing — with notice where we reasonably can — if it is inaccurate or misleading, infringes someone's rights, contains unlawful or offensive material, impersonates another business, exists mainly to game search results, or if your Shindig account is closed or deleted. Removal of a listing does not affect your Shindig subscription, and closing your account removes the listing.

Your profile address

You choose your profile's web address, subject to availability and to our reserved words. Addresses are allocated first come, first served; we may reclaim one that impersonates another business or that was registered in bad faith. If you rename your profile, the old address redirects to the new one and stays reserved to you.

No guarantees about results

We do not promise any level of traffic, inquiries, bookings, or search ranking from a listing, and we may change, restructure, or discontinue the directory. The directory is provided as-is. Nothing here limits your rights under the Terms of Service, or ours.

Changes to these terms

If we materially change these terms we will publish a new version and ask you to accept it before your listing continues to be updated. The version you accepted is recorded with your listing.
